Sophi bag is fully felted and super cute - tada - (Insert, oohs, aahs, and various fun superlatives here)
But what the felt is this. Could it be..why yes..that is a big ass hole in poor little Sophie. How in the heck did that happen? Or more importantly how in the heck do I fix it? So sad!!!!
Comments
No idea how to fix the hole but wanted to add the requested (and sincere!) oohs and ahs. Sophie is verrry nice. I think the long handle is so much more practical (says one mother of a young child to another).
As for the hole, I'd try sewing it up with thin thread (so it would just dissapear in the felted fabric) It doesn't look too huge, so that might do it. Maybe you dropped a stitch and it came out more in the felting?
VERRRYYY cute Sophie. Are the stripes just random; you knit them until you liked them, or did you "go by" something? I'm glad that recycled yarn felted; I was rather holding my breath for you.
I'd read somewhere that you can test whether something is 100% wool by putting a small strand of it in a small amount of bleach - if the yarn dissolves it's wool. But, then I wasn't sure whether that applied to superwash or not, so I kept my mouth shut.
I'm going to have to start hunting down sweaters in Goodwill, now.

Just a suggestion about the hole maybe needle felting it together, I think it will work, the bag looks fab though

Sweet bag! I've always liked that pattern. I think just stitching the hole up with tiny stitches (needle and thread) would be best.
