Did you miss me?

I certainly missed all of you. I'm back from my whirl-wind vacation to Disney World and not only did I survive, it seems that all family members survived with very little if any emotional scarring.  It was a fantastic week, especially for the little ones, but it was also extremely stressful, nearly all of our time taken up at a Disney park or at the pool.

It is laughable that I even mentioned some possible fo's in the last post.  I originally had thought that I might have something to show with the long car rides and evenings in a hotel room.  Not the case, every second of everyday was occupied with non-crafting activities. So you will have to wait a little longer.

As many of you know, I recently received a snazzy new camera as a gift from my folks, and although the camera is fantastic, the pictures are only as good as the photographer.  Photographing still life is one thing, moving objects - such as rambunctious toddlers is truly another. I did the best I could and although I will not receive any awards for my photography - I wanted to share a couple of smiles I got here and there.

Although all of the photos are self explanatory, I want to add a note about the photo of the children in the stroller.  Amelia and Makenna got to dress up as princesses and I was laughing that the stroller was their "chariot."  Amelia was taking her job as a princess very seriously and was holding up her wand to lead the way.  I told her in an offhanded way that she should say "CHARGE" as her daddy pushed her around, since she looked as if she was going into battle.    After a quick glance my way, she raised her wand and shouted at the top of her lungs "I'M IN CHARGE." It was a hilarious moment and got quite a few chuckles from passer byers.  She continued her antics to my delight and continued to assert her leadership position through out the night.  Little does she know how truly "in charge" she is.

Going on a Hiatus...

Well technically a "vacation" - if you can call it that,  I'm taking 2 toddlers to DisneyWorld. I'm hoping for the best, and seriously wishing I had a bottle of valium.   If I don't go insane I'll be back in 2 weeks.

Stay tuned for some exciting updates. I may actually have some real knitting accomplished, a quilt mostly quilted, two NEW LINES of Yarn to introduce and a new shop I'm working with!  I also have a favor to ask all my readers out there, I'll go into details when I get back but -

In the meantime - do you guys know what these are?

You can find them on top of General Mills products - do me a favor and start clipping them if you notice them. It's part of the "favor" I mentioned above - but let me tell you that there are going to be some GOOD things IN IT FOR YOU!   More later.  Take care!

September 11th...

a day marked by tragedy for some - a joyous occasion for others.

Here's to seven fantastic years, too many happy hours to count, a few sad ones, 2 fantastic children, a couple of new houses, big career changes and lots of love.  Happy anniversary!

Of course, little sister follows big sister, paint soon leaps from paper to hands onto little bodies and eventually the chair.

Thank goodness for crayola - washable paint -  a parent's dream.

Sizzle had to be sliced...

Unfortunately, wearing sizzle for even a few moments for an impromptu photo session caused her to stretch WAY to much.  Since I really do adore this sweater but didn't want to rip it, I decided to slice and dice her. I didn't take any photos since it was the same operation as with Sweet Tee - just a little more involved.   Final results - success. The seam isn't nearly as pretty as my original one but it holds it's shape much better.

And yes I do know I'm looking a little worked in this picture.  Please don't judge me harshly.  It's been a long week and a battle of the will with 2 toddlers! I was victorious  in the end but now I need a vacation or a drink!

Pattern - Sizzle by Wendy from Knit and Tonic.

Yarn - my own.

Modifications and comments- none, I knit the sweater as designed, even the length was appropriate for my abnormally long waist line.  I did misjudge my ease a bit though - negative ease gets kind of sketchy when dealing with v-necks, you don't want too much since you run the risk of distorting the neckline.  On the other hand, too much ease makes you look like you are wearing a brown paper bag, literally.  I ended up taking about 2 inches by steeking and sewing.  I will say this is my most favorite neckline EVER!  Thanks for looking.

A smile?!?

A little smile, just one, but enough to see that little twinkle in her soul.
